WATERS EDGE CIVIC ASSOCIATION- Board Meeting- 10/6/2024
The last meeting of the season took place on 10/6/24 on Temple Ave at 10:30 AM.
Financial Report:
Donna G. gave the rundown of the end of season party expenditures. We received 410.00 and the cost was 651.00, which left us with a debit of 241.00.
The balance in the WECA account is 8721.00.
We are donating to the Fire Dept and Ambulance Corps. 200.00 will be sent.
The dues had been decreased to 25.00 for this past year and will be raised back to 50.00 for next year.
Business:
Chuck M. volunteered to change out the SD card on the Trail Cam at the end of Temple Ave each month and check the video.
Fred will speak to David W. and ask him to scale back and simplify the web page so that we may get it up and running quickly.
We are planning to have a newsletter for WECA which will contain information, events, and dues information. This will be done in the early Spring of 2025. Marie M. volunteered to do the newsletter. There was concern about placing it in mailboxes and Chuck M. suggested a box by the little library on Temple for copies of the newsletter. Others will volunteer to deliver door to door. We would like to have special events such as birthdays and anniversaries so that we may acknowledge them in the newsletter. Look on Facebook for further information.
Fred will stay on as President. There were no other nominations. We asked for a Vice President and Polly was voted in as VP. Marie and Donna will remain on the board. The duties of the VP were explained.
Lori and Fred volunteered to continue having an end of season party for the community in their yard for next year. It was a success and it can be made even better with more participation. We thanked all the people who attended and those who contributed baskets and prizes.
Spring Fling ideas were discussed. There was discussion of the pros and cons of the last event. The members voted to have it only as a WECA event and an invitation will be extended to Bay View Pines if they’d like to attend. A committee was formed, including Kurt B,, Donna G., Lori F., and Maureen. Fliers will be sent out in English and Spanish. It will be on FB and in the newsletter once planned. This will be an adult only event and will be held sometime after March 21st. WECA mentioned all the supporters and businesses that donated last spring and asked that we approach local businesses again this year.
House of the Month. We will ask for nominations which need to include photos. There will then be votes. A sign will be made (we will ask Ron Fisher) to post in front of the home that wins. This will be at the beginning of the summer. We hope to get 5 nominations and a committee will be formed.
Zombie Houses in the area. Code enforcement needs to be contacted. Also,j you can go on SH website. There are a few abandoned homes on Sylvan and Temple. Take photos to present to Code enforcement.
The meeting was adjourned. Our next general meeting will be at the end of April 2025.
Have a safe and comfy Wintertime. We will be in touch.
